I just came back from a lunch with a friend at Cafe Orlin. A nice surprise. Hijiki Salad came with breaded tofu, watercress and avocado. A nice quiet dressing binds everything. Vegetarian Combo was scrumptious. Even the plain looking rice had a nice touch. Was it coconut milk or broth? I had Iced mint tea to wash it all down. She wanted to eat outside to de-freeze from her ice cold office. A perfect laid back cafe to have a vegetarian lunch. I will come back here.
Breakfast: Coffee, Very Pink Shake
Lunch at Mamoun’s Falafel: Falafel, Hummus, Baba Ganouj, Lettuce and Tomato, Pita—a satisfying platter. Good falafel, good hummus, and good baba ganouj.
Dinner: Pasta Marinara with Grape Tomatoes
Breakfast: Coffee, Green Goddess Shake
Lunch at Bex Cafe: Spinach Salad
Nibbles at Friends’ home: Olives, String Green Beans, Baba Ganoush, Bread, Roasted Almonds, Red Grapes, Pound Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookies—ahn this is how I get off from being a vegan. If there is food in front of me, I can’t leave it alone.
Dinner: Left-over from Buddah Bodai, Sauteed Pea Pod Leaves, Shiitake Mushroom Duck, BBQ Pork
Breakfast: Coffee, MIxed Berry Almond Milk Shake
Lunch: Cold Sesame Noodles, Lentil Burger with Tomato and Pickled Onion
Dinner at L’ybane: Moussaka, Baba Ganoush, Grilled Asparagus, Iced Mint Tea—their choice of music while we were there was unbearable and too loud. Otherwise, it’s a charming wine bar with a few good vegetarian friendly appetizers in middle of Times Square.
Snacks: Crackers and Nuts
